Child's fantasy //father

Harry Mason. Writer. 30-something years-old. Loves his daughter, Cheryl. He has a picture of her in her wallet. He is looking desperately for her. Or at least, that's who we are led to believe Harry Mason is. A caring father, looking for his daughter. However, if you've been reading this site, you have already realised the truth we slowly walk towards during the game. Harry isn't the perfect father we see him as -- or have seen before, in the original game.

In previous games, the main characters were usually "summoned" to Silent Hill in order to pay for their sins. This isn't so different in Shattered Memories. The only difference would be that... well, Cheryl already is in Silent Hill, and it is just the quiet small town previous characters have described the town as. It's not haunted by the evil monsters. But one thing does not change: there is a monster, created out of fantasy, and used to make Cheryl open her eyes to the truth.

That is Harry. A person created in order to soothe Cheryl's suffering and that will help her deal with it after she realizes he is not needed, and that she must face her own pain. In this sense, I believe Harry is similar to Silent Hill 2's Pyramid Head, though less violent.
